I heard that white German Shepherds are more difficult to train then other German Shepherds. Is that true?

I am trying to pick out a German Shepherd from a local rescue group or breeder but I am not sure what color to choose. That’s because I have read before that white Shepherds are more difficult than other shepherds. I also heard that black Shepherds are easier to train.
I have loved German Shepherds since I was in the 3rd grade and I have read every book I could find on caring for them and such. I have read a few that have said that the color might affect how smart the dog is. I was not sure if it was true or not about some Shepherds.The reason why some books probably said this this was because they can be deaf. Thank you all for your help and it will definitely help me in choosing the right GSD puppy for me.

Training my German Shepherd?

We got this two year old male German Shepherd and we’re planning on taking him to training classes but don’t have money yet. Here are some of our issues maybe somebody can give us some tips on training him that has experience with GS.

Obey in general and get the control over him as his owners?
Licking? We can’t use the nasty tasting stuff so is there any other tips?
Getting him to "Go to his place"
Shake?
